27. Curren$y x Alchemist - Covert Coup

Curren$y has a work ethic that would make Tupac look lazy. Since his album 'Pilot Talk' was released in June 2012, he has released 6 cd's, both official mixtapes and studio albums. 'Covert Coup' sees 'Spitta' (One of Curren$y's alias's) teaming up with the ever consistant Alchemist, who handles the production duties on this project.

The first thing that this listener thought when listening to this project is that this would be an incredible album to smoke to. Curren$y's laid back delivery perfectly matches Alchemist's soulful and grimey productions. I can imagine that you would walk into into the studio and get hit with a wall of smoke.

The intro 'Bbs' has a classic Alchemist feel to it and sets the tone for the whole album. 'The Type' featuring Prodigy, from regular Alchemist collaborators Mobb Deep has both MC's bodying the the beat together as if they've worked together for years.

The only slight complaint that anyone could have with this album is that most of the songs come in at under 3 minutes, but having said that, this ablum was released as a free download so no-one can really have too many complaints.

Until tomorrow.....
